Project Profile - Department
of Homeland Security (DHS Eagle)
Federated IT professionals, cleared to the Top Secret level, are providing world-class network and security design engineers and Information Technology support services to multiple Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Data Centers, as well as providing Subject Matter Experts (SME) engineering support and Information Assurance consulting services to the Office of the Chief Information Officer (CIO) at HQ DHS.
Our ITIL compliant service delivery approach to Project Management has delivered reliable effectiveness in numerous integration and enterprise-level deployments at several Data Centers, NOC’s and DHS HQ’s locations in 4 different states (Virginia, West Virginia, Washington DC and Mississippi) where Federated has built, installed, configured, upgraded and are currently sustaining almost 1000 geographically distributed servers that occupy thousands of square feet of computer floor space. Primary Operating systems are Windows 2003, Linux and Solaris; hardware includes CISCO routers and firewalls, Dell, HP, as well as Hitachi Storage Area Solution. Backbone support to fiber and Gigabit Ethernet skill sets are also leveraged on a 24/7 basis to establish and maintain a stable IT infrastructure that ensures the integrity and availability of DHS data.
Our Engineers also play an integral role in DHS’ national Data Center migration project which has leveraged a VMware virtualization solution to facilitate successful migrations with no user downtime. We have saved the Department more than 18 racks of space and achieved a consolidation ratio of 21 to 1. As DHS began deploying critical systems to the Data Center, Federated anticipated future engineering requirements and the skills necessary to deploy those systems. Our engineers aggressively cross trained the current core engineering team which resulted in a more technically capable and responsive support staff. This further reduced the engineering staff footprint on the contract and accomplished all deployment schedules on time and under budget.
At the Network Operations Center site Federated engineers have participated in the design and architecture process for networks that will be integrated into the Data Center. Most of these projects have appropriate timelines that methodically plot the safe integration of Agency resources into the stable infrastructure supported at the Data Center. On occasion the design, build and integration projects have a more compressed timeline, and Federated engineers are on-site and prepared for surge support. |
